Top City of Melbourne Council Election Issues;
eight years is ‘enough of’ Robert Doyle
-
Queen Victoria Market should be restored and remain as is, a heritage fresh food market. It must not be overpowered by surrounding any ‘high rise’ development sponsored by the Council.
-
New Council Offices. We must stop the wasteful $100 million+ expenditure on new offices for council. Lord Mayor Robert Doyle has been supporting this and hasn’t announced these plans to the public.
-
The City of Melbourne 'Code of Conduct' must be changed so the Lord Mayor and Councillors cannot do as Robert Doyle did as Lord Mayor during the last 4 years,
-
Team Morgan is running a self-funded campaign – there are no property developer ‘donations’ supporting Team Morgan
-
Robert Doyle and his Team Doyle Councillors on more than eighteen occasions had to exit the Council Chamber and NOT vote because 'conflicted' by accepting donations from Building Developers, some of whom were owned overseas. This unacceptable situation caused a 'loss of quorum' in the Council Chamber (on at least eighteen occasions) resulting in Melbourne Council Building Decisions could not be 'voted on' by the remaining Councillors. The Building Decisions were then made by Council employees NOT elected City of Melbourne Councillors,
-
Robert Doyle was found to have used his City of Melbourne business credit card claiming $28,000+ were Council expenses when they were his private expenses,
-
Protecting Melbourne’s heritage. While Team Morgan is not against ‘high rise’ development there must be limits including protecting heritage buildings which must NOT be compromised – for instance the MCG Hotel in East Melbourne – home of Australian Rules Football was partially demolished (illegally) without a permit and granted a permit to be built over with an apartment bock!.
-
St. Kilda Rd Elm trees, over 55 years since planted, must remain,
-
Homeless must be stopped from sleeping in the streets and properly catered for,
-
Stopping wasteful spending. A significant cut in Council administration costs enables council rates to be ‘cut by 5%’, and
-
The ‘culture’ of Council employment practices must be changed resulting in better services.
